Managing financial portfolios requires clarity, speed, and precision. The challenge was clear—users needed better visibility into their portfolio performance and a way to make faster, more informed decisions. The existing system lacked a cohesive structure, making it difficult for users to track key metrics, analyze risk, and manage assets efficiently. My role was to transform a fragmented experience into a unified, data-driven interface that delivered clarity without complexity.
Process
Scalability
Through user research and workflow analysis, I discovered that loan officers were spending up to 30 seconds per document access navigating between screens, multiplied across 20-40 document reviews daily. This represented a significant productivity loss.
I designed and implemented a persistent side drawer that allowed users to access, review, and compare documents while maintaining their position in the workflow. The solution included a component-based UI framework to ensure consistency and scalability across the platform.
The Results
The side drawer feature has delivered substantial impact since its 2021 implementation. With daily time savings of 62.5 hours across 250 users, the solution has generated estimated annual cost savings of $781,250. The cumulative impact exceeds 62,500 hours saved, and the feature's widespread adoption beyond its initial use case demonstrates its versatility and value.
Going Forward
The side drawer has become a cornerstone of Provide's platform, demonstrating how thoughtful UX design can create lasting value. Future enhancements will focus on AI-driven document categorization and automated workflow suggestions to further streamline the loan processing experience.
